Safety & Health
Pride. Passion. Participation.
At Boise, working safely is a way of life. We are committed to an incident-free workplace. We are proud of our past safety performance, but we are passionate about improving our safety performance. And we believe every employee must fully participate as a leader to keep our work environment safe.
Safety Principles
- Safety is a condition of employment
- Safety is a value in all we do
- We are safe because we care
- Line management leads the process
VPP Certification
Three Boise Cascade locations are certified under the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP). We're working toward having all our locations certified.
In VPP, management, labor, and OSHA establish cooperative relationships to implement comprehensive safety and health management system in the workplace. Certification by the federal or state programs is OSHA’s official recognition of the outstanding efforts of employers and employees who have created exemplary worksite safety and health management systems.

Wellness Program
Healthcare costs are one of the biggest challenges facing the company. The increases are as significant as those for trees or energy. But they are much more important, because we need to invest in our employees' health and wellness – it is simply the right thing to do.
Boise created and implemented the Healthy Choices Wellness Program – available to all employees. The online components are also offered to spouses and children over age 18. The program is voluntary and absolutely confidential.
