For more than a decade, WoodWorks has helped engineers, architects, contractors and developers discover the full potential of wood products in multifamily and commercial construction. By providing comprehensive education and hands-on project support, the organization lives up to its name demonstrating that engineered wood products are a viable solution not only for residential homes, but also for large scale structures that often utilize steel and concrete.

Through more than 70,000 hours of annual education, including webinars, site tours, and conferences, WoodWorks connects project teams to the technical knowledge and resources needed to help rethink what’s possible with wood. Their project support team, consisting of engineers and other industry professionals, helps guide teams through various pre-construction processes like feasibility reviews and early design assistance.

“There’s a huge opportunity for wood in construction,” says Bill Parsons, COO of WoodWorks. “Over a billion square feet of buildings could, and should, be built with wood by code each year. We work to show teams that it’s not only possible, but a cost-effective and sustainable option.”

WoodWorks’ success is supported by product knowledge and support from many of the leading manufacturers of engineered wood products (EWP), mass timber and lumber. As a supporting partner, Boise Cascade works to move projects from concept to completion. WoodWorks helps project teams understand the “why” behind wood construction, providing guidance that turns questions about performance, fire safety, and code compliance into solutions based on project needs. Boise Cascade provides the “how”assisting teams with product selection and material list development, alongside engineering support and value-added solutions that help turn plans into reality. When pulled together, it’s a winning combination.

By providing guidance early in the design process, architects, engineers, and developers receive the information they need to evaluate materials and make well-informed decisions for high-performing projects.

“WoodWorks brings the education and support to make larger-scale wood construction approachable,” says Josh Pounds, EWP Business Development Manager at Boise Cascade. “It’s rewarding to see teams gain that knowledge and bring their projects to life.”
