The Wood Products Inland Region recently overhauled their scholarship program, resulting in a more robust financial opportunity for their employees’ college-bound children. The program allows for renewable scholarships to be awarded each year: $5,000 allotted to Elgin Plywood/Homedale Beams and $5,000 for the Kettle Falls/Arden facilities.
Awards may be renewed up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first,” said Lisa Ward, Sr. HR Specialist. “The program is set up to allow a maximum $2,500 renewable scholarship to be awarded to an individual, which equates to a total value of $10,000. At the end of four years, the annual potential payout could be as high as $40,000!”
The awards are determined by a scholarship committee composed of local individuals from the following professions: education, law enforcement, finance and the non-profit sector. An HR representative acts as a non-voting member of the committee and is available to interpret policy and handle the administrative responsibilities.
Congratulations to the 2019 Inland Region scholarship recipients!
